Across all sectors, business performance and continuity are often shaped by access to natural resources, ecosystem services and stable environmental conditions across supply chains. As biodiversity loss accelerates and ecosystems degrade, the implications for business continuity, resilience, and reputation are becoming increasingly material.

However, significant opportunities also exist alongside these risks. By integrating nature into strategic decision-making, forward-thinking companies can reduce exposure to risks while unlocking new sources of value through innovation, operational efficiency, stakeholder trust, and long-term sustainability.

We support companies with managing nature as a core business asset. Our work helps them to strengthen supply chain resilience, meet emerging regulatory requirements, improve access to finance, and create long-term value.

Our services are tailored to our clients’ needs and maturity with regards to nature. While every organisation’s journey is different, our support typically spans three phases: Activation, Transition and Integration. The figure below outlines our key services at each stage.

If you are interested in the specific services TBC has provided in your sector, please look at our detailed brochures for each sector. Further detail on some of our key services is also outlined below.

What can we help with?

Nature Advisory Membership

Our Nature Advisory Membership offers clients a flexible way to access trusted expertise on key nature topics, exactly when it is needed. Designed for ad hoc and evolving advisory needs, the subscription provides regular, on‑demand support to help organisations stay ahead of emerging risks, opportunities and regulatory change.

Nature-related Dependency, Impact, Risk and Opportunity (DIRO) Assessments

We help our clients to identify and prioritise nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities across their value chains, aligning with regulatory requirements (e.g. CSRD, EUDR) and leading voluntary frameworks (e.g. SBTN, TNFD).

These assessments are tailored to the sector, framework, and business need, and often include some of the analyses listed below.

Location-based Biodiversity Screening

Our Biodiversity Risk Screening Kit (BRiSK) helps to identify the state of nature and potential risks to biodiversity across a client’s operational portfolio and upstream sourcing locations. The results provide a strong foundation for portfolio screening, allowing clients to efficiently highlight and prioritise locations based on the state of biodiversity and nature across terrestrial, freshwater, and marine realms. We then provide expert guidance on how to verify biodiversity risks and identify appropriate actions.

Biodiversity Footprinting and Impact Assessment

We help our clients to better understand their value chain’s biodiversity footprint, identifying the relative contribution of their activities, sites and sourced commodities to nature-related impacts. Examples include:

  • Nature Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), providing quantitative estimates of the magnitude of different pressures on nature (e.g. land use, water use, pollution) as well as an overall biodiversity footprint across our clients’ value chains, helping to inform prioritisation of commodities and site locations.
  • Bespoke land-occupancy nature footprints, aligning with major frameworks (e.g. SBTN, TNFD).

Nature-related Financial Materiality

We apply a science-based approach to pinpoint the location, likelihood and magnitude of nature-related risks – on site, in supply chains, within portfolios and across customer-bases. We model the financial effect of the scenarios, connecting them with the processes and models our clients’ use to make decisions, and then advise on the optimal actions to capitalise.

Nature Strategies and Target Setting

We support our clients in connecting existing nature‑related activity with their strategic ambition, helping them to define clear, credible goals and targets for nature that align with their broader business strategy and evolving regulatory and stakeholder expectations. This includes:

  • Defining ambition through collaborative, cross-functional workshops, helping clients explore different levels of ambition informed by market and regulatory expectations, peer benchmarking, and leading frameworks
  • Facilitating alignment on a clear, strategic approach to nature, identifying where nature supports wider strategic priorities (e.g., climate, circularity, R&D) and building organisational awareness and buy-in
  • Corporate and site-level target setting, identifying suitable targets and KPIs grounded in scientific evidence and business realities, aligned with leading frameworks (e.g., SBTN), and contributing to the Global Biodiversity Framework
  • Consolidating client’s ambition and targets into coherent nature strategies and transition plans that can be embedded across the business.
Nature Implementation, Measurement and Disclosures

We provide practical implementation support to help organisations turn nature ambition and targets into action across operations, value chains and reporting. This includes:

  • On-site biodiversity management and action planning, supporting the design and implementation of site‑level plans aligned with the mitigation hierarchy, IFC Performance Standard 6, international lender requirements, and relevant national regulations
  • Designing nature measurement frameworks, helping organisations define proportionate, decision‑useful approaches to measuring what matters most for their business, and supporting the development of credible metrics and high‑integrity nature‑related claims aligned with leading guidance
  • Procurement policies and supplier engagement, helping embed nature considerations into procurement processes and supplier expectations, building capacity and supporting engagement across priority value chains
  • Landscape engagement and restoration strategies, identifying opportunities for collaboration beyond the value chain to address shared risks, enhance outcomes for nature, and support long‑term resilience
  • Disclosure and reporting support, aligned with major corporate frameworks and regulatory requirements (e.g., TNFD, CSRD, GRI, CDP), ensuring consistency between strategy, action and external reporting

Capacity Building and Change Management

Across all stages of the nature journey, we support clients to build the internal understanding, confidence and alignment needed to translate nature‑related insights into business decisions. This includes strengthening understanding of nature-related dependencies, impacts, risks and opportunities, and equipping teams with the evidence required to assess their relevance within specific operational and supply chain contexts.

Our support is tailored to different roles and decision points – from procurement, sustainability, risk and site-level management through to executive leadership. This can include targeted workshops to deepen understanding of priority issues, broader internal sessions to build knowledge, or direct support to help articulate a robust business case for action to senior, Board-level or executive stakeholders.
