Forestry & Agri-business
Agriculture and forestry are heavily reliant on nature for long-term production. Crops rely on wild insects, birds and mammals for pollination, both rely on intact food webs for pest control, and forests provide vital habitat for this fauna as well as helping regulate necessary ecosystems. Declining species diversity and abundance and failing ecosystems impact on production, resulting in decreased yields or increased costs.
The agriculture and forestry sectors have an imperative to transition towards more regenerative and biodiversity-aware practices to make these business-critical supply chains more resilient and reduce impact. We help companies understand their biodiversity footprint and identify how and where strategic actions can enhance nature values and effect real change across the production base. This can include aligning practices with Deforestation Free (DF) / Deforestation and Conversion Free (DCF) frameworks, as well as supporting companies in moving from FSC and carbon certifications to IFC Performance Standard 6 (PS6) and development finance institution (DFI) lender requirements to help secure project finance.
Whether through better investments in nature, the restoration of production landscapes, or avoiding the most damaging activities, our focus is to work closely with our clients to design approaches that are both practical and science-based.
