Methods and Guidance
We work to develop methods and guidance for the Sustainable Infrastructure sector - to shape decisions, standards, and action for sustainable development. We translate complex ecological evidence into practical guidance that informs infrastructure decisions, strengthens safeguards and performance standards, and enables real‑world action that aligns development with nature positive outcomes.
- NGOs and Academia: Our long‑standing partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Renewables for Nature (REN) Coalition has produced sector‑defining guidance, which provides practical, industry‑focused tools for project developers across solar, onshore wind and offshore wind technologies. These guidelines are the result of extensive literature reviews, expert and industry engagement and field insights, culminating in evidence‑based recommendations on applying the mitigation hierarchy, assessing biodiversity impacts and integrating good practice at the site level and beyond.
- Industry associations: TBC is a trusted technical advisor to leading industry bodies such as the International Council on Mining and Metals (ICMM), the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) and MERA (Metals Environmental Research Association). Our work for ICMM supports the implementation of their Nature Position Statement, including guidance to support the identification, assessment, and disclosure of nature-related risks and opportunities in upstream value chains and capacity building for members. Our IAI collaboration builds on extensive experience supporting the mining and metals sector to align with international standards, developing biodiversity measurement frameworks and creating reporting methodologies that respond to corporate NNL and Net Positive Impact goals. In parallel, our contributions to MERA provide practical guidance on how mining and metals industries can navigate emerging global disclosure frameworks and integrate credible biodiversity strategies into site‑level and corporate decision‑making.
