Collaboration
The Biodiversity Consultancy sits at the nexus between cutting-edge research, conservation policy and practice, and the private sector. From our HQ in Cambridge, UK – a global hub for nature conservation organisations, and a centre of excellence for academic research – we are uniquely placed to bridge these different worlds and bring fresh perspectives and in-depth expertise into our work with the business and finance community.
Collaboration is core to the work we do as a company. Tackling the climate and nature crisis cannot be done in isolation, and we partner with cross-sector initiatives and industry associations that are raising the bar for best practice in business and biodiversity and working towards a nature positive future. Some recent highlights of our partnership work include:
- Co-leading the Biodiversity Hub of the Science Based Targets Network, along with UNEP-WCMC and IUCN
- Working with the Fashion Pact Association to drive positive outcomes for biodiversity, climate and oceans in the fashion sector
- Core role in founding, and ongoing steering group member of the UK Business and Biodiversity Forum – a business-to-business hub that supports UK companies in understanding the value of biodiversity and how to integrate nature into value chains and decision-making
- Partnering with Textile Exchange, a global membership nonprofit representing leading brands, retailers and suppliers across the global textile industry, to co-develop an innovative biodiversity benchmarking module – the first of its kind in any sector – as part of Textile Exchange’s widely-used Corporate Fiber and Material Benchmarking
- Supporting the Align Partnership that aims to align accounting approaches for nature, and co-authoring its 2021 Assessment of Biodiversity Measurement Approaches for Businesses and Financial Institutions
- Part of the technical advisory group providing input to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development Nature Positive business dialogue
Working hand-in-hand with our conservation and industry partners, we have developed some of the most widely-used and influential pieces of guidance for business and biodiversity, including:
