The Biodiversity Consultancy at The Nature Hub, London Climate Action Week 2025

27 June 2025

The Biodiversity Consultancy had the pleasure of attending the Nature Hub at London Climate Action Week (LCAW) 2025, the 7th annual week of city-wide climate action and collaboration.

Hosted by Nature4Climate, the event brought leaders and organisations from across the climate action and private sectors to deep dive into the UK’s role in climate leadership, and reaffirm nature-based solutions' role in economic growth and business resilience.

Attendees from The Biodiversity Consultancy’s team included:

Key insights: harnessing nature as an economic opportunity

Room for growth on land tenure, project aggregation and standards

There’s a critical need to accelerate progress in tackling long-standing challenges—particularly concerning land tenure, project aggregation, and the need for robust standards— in the ever-evolving environmental landscape.

Businesses can help drive this progress by evaluating projects and supply chains for land tenure and governance risks, strengthening due diligence practices, aligning with leading standards and frameworks (e.g., SBTN and TNFD), and actively contributing to their development through working groups and consultations.

Supplier engagement to maintain progress

Clear market signals help suppliers build and apply internal business cases for nature investment. Supporting suppliers in understanding the financial, operational, and reputational benefits of nature positive practices is critical to embedding biodiversity and nature conservation throughout the supply chain. We have supported a range of corporates in building internal and supplier capacity, find out more about our work here.

Finance is pivotal for nature positive action

Increasing support from development finance institutions (DFIs) signals a strong prioritisation of nature-based solutions and investment in the financial sector. We look forward to continuing our support for DFIs as they play a pivotal role in mobilising capital for nature positive action, making them a vital resource for businesses seeking to embed nature into their long term strategies.

Businesses can adopt a range of approaches – such as science-based target setting or alignment with lender requirements such as IFC PS6. Tailored advisory support can help identify the most effective strategy to integrate nature into core operations and investment planning.

Nature’s role in business resilience

Businesses increasingly view nature as central to climate resilience, offering economic opportunities that mitigate impacts and protect supply chains. By integrating nature into strategies and science-based targets like TNFD, they can ensure compliance and unlock funding and investment.

“Surety of supply” — particularly in sectors like food and beverage — is emerging as a primary driver for nature-based action. Businesses increasingly recognise supply chain resilience is inseparable from the resilience of biodiversity and nature, from soil health and pollination to water availability and climate stability.

Beyond reporting, nature is now being embedded into long-term corporate strategy through meaningful targets, KPIs, and incentives.

What are the next steps after LCAW 25?

As the momentum behind nature-focused strategies accelerates, one thing is clear: biodiversity is not a peripheral issue and nature positive action is essential for business resilience, reputation, and long-term success.
