Peter has over twenty years of professional experience, including academic research, nature conservation and ecological consultancy. He has extensive knowledge and practical experience of the implementation of environmental and social standards of international financial institutions, both on behalf of lenders, as well as project developers.
Peter has worked on over 250 environmental and ecological impact assessments on behalf of developers. Peter has also acted as the biodiversity specialist in the role of Independent Environmental and Social Consultant (IESC) on behalf of lenders for a wide range of major projects, including renewable energy, infrastructure, oil and gas, mining and urban regeneration.
Peter’s specialisms are ornithology and assessing project impacts to designated areas such as National Parks, Key Biodiversity Areas, and Ramsar sites. He has extensive experience in planning and implementing baseline biodiversity surveys, ecological assessments, and environmental impact assessment to both national and international standards, determination of Critical Habitats, environmental management plans, Biodiversity Action Plans, and developing biodiversity offset strategies.
Peter is currently a member of the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) biodiversity working group, reviewing the standards set by the ASI for mining projects in relation to protected areas and ecosystem services.
