Will works with the finance sector, supporting clients to navigate key issues around nature-based solutions and conservation finance. He has over 10 years’ experience in consultancy, NGOs, and academia, with his work spanning the social impacts of conservation, accountability and environmental entrepreneurship.
Will’s PhD and post-doctoral research focused on non-timber forest product enterprises in Mozambique. His postdoctoral research at the Institute for Global Sustainable Development examined the potential of secondary data to enhance NGO and enterprise accountability to participants, while his PhD focused on how social and environmental entrepreneurs overcome institutional challenges to achieve impact and scale.
With a professional background in fisheries management and consultancy, Will spent four years working for MRAG supporting a range of large-scale projects across Europe and Africa. His diverse project experience includes capacity building of fisheries institutions in Sierra Leone and Liberia, analysis of the economic impacts of bycatch mitigation measures for gillnet fisheries in Europe and supporting Ramsar designations in Malawi.
