Our Environmental Sustainability Policy
Environmental Sustainability Policy
At The Biodiversity Consultancy, environmental responsibility and biodiversity protection are central to how we operate. We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint and embedding sustainability across our business.
Our Approach
We comply fully with environmental legislation and continuously improve our practices to minimise impact and support biodiversity. Sustainability isembedded in our strategy, culture, and operations.
Energy & Emissions
We use 100% renewable electricity and monitor our resource use to reduce water and energy consumption. We have Scope 1 and 2 carbon reduction goalsaligned with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and also commit to reducing Scope 3 emissions.
Travel & Commuting
We minimise business travel and prioritise low-carbon options such as rail, cycling, and electric vehicles. We encourage our staff to walk or cycle to workwhere that is possible, and we offer a “cycle 2 work” scheme to all employees in the UK. Rail travel is required for all business journeys where the journey can be done by rail below 7.5 hours. We offer an electric vehicle salary sacrifice leasing scheme to all employees in the UK.
Procurement & Recycling
We source responsibly, and recycle or repurpose materials and equipment to reduce waste. We purchase paper products that comply with the FSC standard and we seek caterers that can confirm that their food is sustainably sourced, and we provide solely vegetarian food for TBC staff events and catering.
The Biodiversity Consultancy Conservation Fund
We dedicate 12.5% of our profits to conservation projects worldwide, chosen by our team for the positive outcomes they have for species, habitats and the development of conservation science.
