James Hutchison

James is a Data Consultant in the Technical Design and Development team. He has over 10 years’ experience of data analysis, with particular expertise in the use of R and databases to develop analytical pipelines to support conservation and biodiversity decision-making.

James joined TBC after spending eight years working in the public sector, using data and analysis to drive better government decision-making. This included developing systems to assess where and how government conservation funding should be spent, as well as developing metrics and indicators for the state of the natural environment. Prior to this, James spent several years researching marine ecosystem services, particularly those provided by mangroves and coral reefs around the world.
