Laura is a world-leading expert on ecologically responsible mining, with more than 15 years of experience in applied research benefiting conservation policy, biodiversity impact mitigation, and sustainable development. 

Laura is a Senior Principal Consultant within TBC’s technical design and development team. She is also an Associate Professor at The University of Queensland, Australia. Laura’s research produces innovative global biodiversity data and conservation methods for the mining industry. Her work at TBC enables the translation of this state-of-the-art science into on-the-ground solutions for clients.

She has a background in spatial sciences and terrestrial ecology, a Graduate Certificate in Sustainable Development, a PhD in global environmental change, and completed her postdoctoral research in ecological economics at The Gund Institute for Environment. For the past 10 years, Laura has been working within academia, and in partnership with governments and industry, to improve the outcomes of mining for people and nature.
