Liesl has more than 25 years’ experience in corporate responsibility and environmental management and is a graduate of the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership “Women Leading Change” class of 2022.

Liesl specializes in textiles, fibres and raw materials, supply networks, industry accountability and corporate reporting, and has a deep knowledge of the fashion and textiles sector gained over more than 13 years at Textile Exchange, culminating in her role as Director of Industry Accountability and Insights. There, she led the Materials Benchmark, enabling companies to measure and manage their performance in materials management and impact against their peers and against the Textile Exchange Climate+ targets. She worked hand in hand with The Biodiversity Consultancy to develop the fashion and textile sector’s first (and only) industry-specific Biodiversity Benchmark in 2020.

She is currently a Commissioner to the Capitals Coalition Values Commission and serves on the Technical Advisory Group of the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB), Wrap UK’s Textiles 2030 Advisory Group, and the Advisory Board of the Copenhagen Fashion Awards.
